About the
Montmorency :
The Montmorency cherry is the most
popular sour cherry in America and it is the
classic pie cherry tree. Montmorency
cherries have proven over the years to be
outstanding for cooking and pie-making. The
tree ripens the fruit in June and grows
about 15 feet tall.
The Montmorency cherry tree is self
fertile and produces medium sized, dark red,
cherries with good flavor and quality. Flesh
is clear and yellow in color.

Please note:
Your region's climate determines the type of
fruit trees and fruit that will grow
successfully. The climate must be compatible
with the growing requirements of the
selected fruit tree. Some varieties will
even prevail in the harsher Upper Midwest
climates. Most fruit trees require between
130 - 150 frost-free days. If you are unsure
as to how many frost-free days your climate
has, please contact your local county
extension office |
